Alberto Salazar said Alan Webb made the decision to re-enter the mile in the New Balance Grand Prix on Saturday in Boston.
Webb, the U.S. outdoor mile record-holder, competes as part of Salazar's Oregon Track Club training group based on the Nike Campus in Beaverton.
Webb's career has been hampered by nagging injuries in recent years, and the injury issues continued this winter.
